Part of an event called the Freak Race by the Ford-Freak Club of Finland it seems.

Wish I knew of events like this around here.

Now THAT is the proper way to drive an old American car:)

I wish we had events like that here in the States.

Dirt track racing here involves contact and is on an oval.

I’d much rather do something like this than a demo derby, autocross or drag race. It looks like a blast.

Just Nordic things...

That looks fun too, but if I was going to do it then I’d want to do non-contact timed runs like an autocross.

We just use old cars, the “ram him” is part of the fun :)

How do the Finns make it look so easy?

But I don’t like destroying cars, even borderline useless ones.

It just feels wrong

They’ll die anyway though...

Rust in peace. or go out in a blaze of glory.

I’m with you, Jed. There’s an episode of Road Kill where they take three new Mopars and beat the crap out of them and I just couldn’t watch.

Do you think that’s a straight-eight?

They have driver education that makes all other driver education look like preschool...

Doubt it. It’s probably a flathead V8 if it is period correct.

It was 49-51 Ford/Mercury before it became a leadsled. It looks like it uses chrome bits of a 51 Ford and a Mercury of probably the same year. The bumpers don’t look like Ford parts though.

This looks like just about the most fun you can have with your pants on. My Lincoln would be a blast on that course.

I’m tempted to get a bunch of my friends together, rent a bulldozer and make a race track on some of my buddy’s property.

We could charge a small entrance fee and have a good run what you brung event.

The world needs more affordable race events besides autocross.

This seems 100 times more enjoyable than autocross. and you gat a few minutes at a time vs ~40-50 seconds at the autocross.

Exactly what I was thinking.

An event like this would also draw all kinds of participants. Guys with 4wd trucks, Subarus and Evos, dedicated circle track cars, and traditional moonshiner-style hot rods all have an interest in performance on dirt.

The lack of body contact also ensures that they don’t trash their cars like they would in circle track
